The story behind Touche
Filip and Bert, the founders of Filibertus, did not have to think too long about the name of their brewery. But their first beer “touche” has come about very remarkably. Read the striking story below.
Filibertus’ roots go back to 2005 when two very young ping-pong lads compete against each other for a podium place in the minors. The two later got to know each other over several, or shall we say many, occasional beers during college life.
This new hobby led to a passion, from which the idea flowed to brew their own beer. Not just any beer, an exceptional beer. One that many people could enjoy the evening(s) of their lives with. And so the goal and the name “touche” were quickly determined.
The search had begun for the recipe of a beer that gives an irresistible charm to those who drink it. A beer with a soft and characterful taste, which guarantees a continuous wave of “touche”. In other words: the recipe for an irresistibly tempting beer – the most tempting beer of Belgium.
And so it happened, the world was traveled in search of knowledge, ingredients and breweries that could inspire us to achieve our goal. Portugal, Germany, Ireland, Brazil, Poland, Hungary, England, … all countries known for their beer consumption and production were visited. Of course we couldn’t be more lucky that we were born and raised in Belgium, a country known for its incredible beers.
We also started our own home brewery, where each time a new recipe was tested. With each new brew, we hoped to get one step closer to that ultimate formula. Each time a small or large adjustment that could change the world for us, each time testing the result until we reached perfection. After 23 tries, the time had finally come, we immediately knew it. This beer gave the consumer an irresistible charm, this beer had a divine soft taste. Touche was born!
Touche – Belgium’s most tempting beer! was launched by Filibertus brewery in July 2021.
But the brewery did not sit still and new flavors were sought. In November 2022, the brewery launched Touche Historic and Touche Rustic. Two new beers that fulfill the founders’ dreams.
